Industria ed Estinzione

La filologa inglese Melanie Challenger (On Extinction, Bloomsbury 2012) ha colto nelle parole di Kluge e Sebald lo spessore temporale dell’estinzione come nuova dimensione post industriale e post bellica: “knowledge of extinctions for ever altered the perception of natural history. Before industrialisation, people expected to inherit their parent’s world; after its onset, people came to anticipate a different future from that of their forbears, an ideology that the concept of extinction aided. One of the defining changes brought about by industrial technology of the war years was that people took extinction of life forms and ways of life, of landscapes and cultures, as the norm rather than the exception”. image
